Rick Jones with Adam of the
Heat |
Rick has done far more than simply coach
within the Heat. His direct involvement in
all aspects of our Program, as well as his
caring, supportive and encouraging support
to all of our players and families within
the Heat are testaments of why this award is
so well deserved.

Rick was a founder of the St. Catharines
Special Needs Hockey Program 10 years ago.
Since then, Rick has been involved in all
aspects of the Program including coaching,
mentoring as well as a Director. At
Christmas time, Rick's close ties to St.
Nick allow our kids to experience Santa in a
very first personal basis.
Rick also is the Program's main fund raiser
organizing an Annual Golf Tournament where
proceeds raised are donated to the Heat
Program. This Golf Tournament is our
Program's main source of funds in supporting
our Program and allowing our Program to
exist.
Prior to starting the Heat Program, Rick
spent many years on the Board of Directors &
Hockey Council of St. Catharines CYO Hockey.
While involved in CYO Hockey, Rick coached
for many years coaching his son Matt from
Tyke through Midget hockey. Rick started
volunteering in the St. Catharines community
almost 30 years ago coaching the Special
Olympics Baseball program.
Always community oriented, Rick is also
currently President of Community Living of
St. Catharines and has also volunteered countless
hours to the Out of the Cold Program in St.
Catharines.
