"How to Enter Your Team Into A Hockey Tournament!!"
TIPS for Coaches looking to enter their teams for the first time.


Check out the  Alliance and OMHA websites for tournament listings
Check to be sure it has House League divisions in your age group.
Email the Tournament Convenor with questions you might have.
If you are accepted, contact the CYO Office to get an approved roster for your team and fill out a travel permit.
Go the CYO website and download a Travel Permit from the FORMS page. Complete the travel permit and bring it to the CYO Office for approval. You will need a roster and permit before you can play the tournament.
Don't wait. It takes time to get your roster approved.
Last: Take your team and have the time of their lives.

Why was my son's goal missed in the newspaper report?

The game sheet did not have the players' name or number.
We could not read the coaches or scorekeepers writing.
The game sheet was not submitted.
The referee reported the wrong number.
The office reported the assists instead of the scorers. OUCH.

We try hard to get everything right when reporting scores but we do make mistakes. If you would like it corrected, please email the CYO Office.

PREVENTIVE SERVICES - "Speak Out!" PROGRAM

St Catharines CYO Minor Hockey is following the mandate set by Hockey Canada to have all of our CYO members accredited with Preventive Services certification. Team Officials at any level/category must have participated in a Preventive Services/Speak Out Clinic to be eligible to be on the bench. The Speak Out module is offered in all Alliance NCCP-Developmental 1 Coaches Clinics and Stand Alone Speak Out Clinics.

Preventive Services is NOT provided through any level of Alliance Trainers Clinics.

Preventive Services certification is represented by an "H" on current Alliance certification cards. The Alliance also provides Preventive Services certificates to those people who do not already have an existing Alliance certification number (i.e. Level Coach, Trainer, etc.).
Team Officials will not be approved on any roster until participants have obtained the Preventive Services (Speak Out) certification.
